Half Day Private Surf Camp

If your idea of Hawaii includes a day of surfing, but you don't know the difference between a barrel and a bottom turn, head on over to LahainaKing Kamehameha III's former surfing groundsfor private surf lessons that'll set your head straight. An experienced instructor will take you from the beach to the waves, step by step, teaching key techniques, and a sense of constant 360-degree awareness that will help you on the board as well as off.

Sessions are available for introductory-beginner through intermediate-level surfers, so you can either learn the basics or amp up your knowledge. For each lesson, you'll be supplied with a lightly padded longboard, booties, and a shirt to protect you against any unfortunate wipeouts. Then it's off to the beach, for some basic instruction in the sand, as well as warm-up stretches to get you ready to go. After a brief time in the flat water, you'll head out to the warm waves that break over the reef.

Your instructor will be with you every paddle and kick and Hang Ten of the way. As well as maximizing your enjoyment in the water, your safety is your instructor's first concern. All instructors have Red Cross certifications in first aid and CPR. But set your worries aside, and leave room for waves, waves, waves.
