Sometimes, you will get lucky enough to see a sting ray. You will almost definitely catch sights of the resident Hawaiian sea turtles, sometimes in the water and sometimes sunbathing on the land mass of the crater. And then there are the birds that come and land on the crater. You will see the most birds during the migratory months of springtime and wintertime.

In addition to the diverse and populous wildlife that is found in Molokini, another reason why the crater is such a popular snorkeling destination is because of the water's clarity. Again because of the barrier-like crescent shape of the crater, the water within the crater sees excellent clarity to the very bottom of the crater. Surrounding the crater, visibility is also amazing, remaining at about 150 feet of visibility throughout the year.
