West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour

The western quarter of the island of Maui features the beautiful slopes of the West Maui Mountains. The landscape is the result of a once active shield volcano making up the northwestern tip of the island. Another name for the mountains is Hale Mahina after Hina, goddess of the moon. The mountains look even more stunning as clouds shroud their peaks. The highest peak of this island of mountains is Pu'u Kukui, with an elevation of almost six thousand feet. Pu'u Kukui receives more rain in a year than any other place on earth, making it extremely lush and green. There are a number of plants and birds peculiar to the Pu'u Kukui region, many of them dwarf plants because of the height of the mountain. Access to the Pu'u Kukui area is normally reserved for researchers and conservationists, but you will be able to see Pu'u Kukui from the comfort of our Eco-Star helicopter.

Just as breathtaking as the mountaintops are the deep valley ravines. Waterfalls are frequent in this area, cascading down mountains in to streams below. If it does happen to be a rainy day, don't worry. Rain brings another element of beauty to this mountain and valley island, with even more waterfalls and rainbows casting off of them. The coastline is beautiful, as the green of the island contrasts with the deep blue of the ocean.
